Where to stay in Atins: what to consider
Atins is a sand-street village at the gateway to the Lençóis Maranhenses, with no paved road in and only a few dozen places to stay. Options range from simple rooms in family-run guesthouses to boutique chalets with private pools — and that choice shapes your whole trip. Before you book, look at four things: location (near the beach and dunes, or in the middle of the village), facilities (a pool, Wi-Fi that actually works, breakfast included), the type of unit (room, bungalow or chalet with a pool) and how you book — direct with the house is usually cheaper than through the platforms.
Types of accommodation in the village
Family-run guesthouses
The majority in Atins: simple rooms, homely service and lower prices. Good if you're only passing through and want a base for the tours.
Boutique pousadas
A handful of houses with real architecture, a pool, a generous breakfast and closer service. This is Pousada Buriti Atins's tier — for travellers who want the stay to be part of the trip, not just a place to sleep.
Chalets and holiday homes with private pools
The most sought-after option, ideal for couples and anyone after privacy. True private-pool chalets are still rare in Atins — Buriti has two.
Why stay at Pousada Buriti Atins
Buriti is on Rua da Alegria, steps from the beach and the first dunes — you can walk there and back. Seven units across 2,000 m² of gardens, with a stone pool, a rooftop for sunset, a spa, free Wi-Fi throughout (rare here) and regional breakfast included, served at your time. The organic architecture is by Roby Macedo, and the house arranges guides, transfers and tours with you.
The accommodations
- Comfort Bungalow — about 31 m², queen bed, up to 2 guests.
- Master Bungalow — about 37 m², more spacious, double-sink bathroom.
- Chalet with private pool — 66 m², your own pool, kitchen and gourmet area, up to 3 guests.
Two proposals within one house: Buriti Boutique (the bungalows, around the stone pool) and Buriti Private (the chalets with private pools).
